Offsetting

As the Poets Imagined

April is Poetry Month and this year the theme is Land and Sea.
I wrote Offsetting moons ago in response to John Davies’ poetry. His poetry celebrates our relationship with the four elements - air, sea, earth and moon.

 
Offsetting

Naturally I aim to be an offsetter 
advance the trends to renewable energy 
get off the grid, reduce a carbon footprint 
small deeds I believe the climate needs.

Never mind if it’s a smog day so dull
you can’t hear the silence of the woods 
Or know the mysteries of dark matter,  
the earth will quake and shift tectonic plates. 

In geologic time there was a dance 
where fire, air, earth once agreed  
an Orchestra as the poets imagined 
the planet turned in perfect harmony.
